Traverse the Northern Coast of Dublin

On this Platinum DreamTrip, you’ll journey along Dublin’s gorgeous north coast, stopping to tour Malahide Castle & take in the picturesque port of Howth.

About Your Trip

Pack your camera and get ready for this fascinating Platinum DreamTrip on the Emerald Isle. You'll head out on an adventure along Dublin’s north coast, featuring an exclusive tour of the stunning Malahide Castle & Gardens. Built in the 12th century, the castle was used as both a fortress and a private estate for nearly 800 years. Nestled in 250 acres (101 hectares) of gardens and parks, its beauty will take your breath away!

Continuing along the coast, you’ll pass beautiful beaches and golf courses before arriving at the fishing port of Howth on the northernmost part of Dublin Bay. After feasting on lunch at an Irish tavern, you’ll have free time to browse in local shops and explore the pier, possibly spotting seals or fishmongers.

In your leisure time, why not venture out on your own? Head to the Dublin Castle — only 5 miles (8 kilometers) from your hotel! — to marvel at its cafes, gardens and museums. Or, swing by Trinity College to check out the world-renowned “Book of Kells.”

What we love:
• At 1,747 acres (707 hectares), Dublin’s Phoenix Park is twice as large as New York City’s Central Park and 5 times larger than Hyde Park in London. It houses a zoo, its own herd of deer and the Irish President’s official residence.
• Music legend Johnny Cash penned the song “Forty Shades of Green” to honor Ireland’s beautiful countryside.
• Guinness originated in an old Dublin brewery in St. James's Gate in 1759. Today, it's available in more than 120 countries and is one of the world's best-selling beers.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland and home to 13th-century castles, cathedrals and lively riverside nightlife. The city is best known for its pubs and breweries, but its art and history museums hold their own as some of the most popular travel destinations in Ireland. The inspiration for Ireland’s nickname is no stretch of the imagination; the “Emerald Isle” is filled with lush flora.

The Irish, from the Galway seaside to the mountainous regions surrounding Killarney, are well-known for their friendly and welcoming nature. Irish cuisine includes many traditional staples — potatoes, fish and dairy — but is best known for hearty corned beef and cabbage and authentic Irish whiskey.
